Lance Briggs holds Sacarameno kids football camp

ELK GROVE – Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs returned home to hold his 2nd annual All-Star Football camp at Consumnes River College Saturday afternoon.

More than 300 kids participated in the camp that included 15 NFL stars, including Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher.

“You see how well liked Lance is by the turnout of his teammates,” Urlacher said. “It is fun to do stuff like this, meet and help a bunch of new kids.”

Briggs attended Elk Grove High School and was a star for the Thundering Herd before heading to Arizona to play college football. The Chicago Bears drafted Briggs in 2003 in the third round, where he has become a five-time Pro Bowler.

“These kids have a lot of opportunities that I didn’t have,” said Briggs. “Living here in the valley, you don’t get to see a lot of pro football players, so I wanted to bring the football players to the kids.”
